Vintage BALLY 5 Cent Nickel Slot Machine Model 1090 ~ Play 1 to 3 Coin LAS VEGAS
Gameroom Show sells pre-1940s vintage slot machines in excellent, working condition. These rare antique slot machines are also known as “one-armed bandits” because they were originally operated by one lever on the side of the machine as opposed to a button on the front panel, and because of their ability to leave the gamer impoverished.
For your consideration is this terrific genuine retired Las Vegas BALLY 5 CENT NICKEL SLOT MACHINE MODEL 1090. Nice and clean! This machine works well. The chrome is is excellent condition, and shines brightly. There is a blemish in the chrome on front, and a small tear in the red graphic on front (near the 5 cents). See photos. The lights and sounds seem to work as intended. I believe this machine was produced in 1977 according to the black metal plaque with the model number. The lower 5 Cent faceplate must have been replaced because it has a 1982 date on it. See photos. I believe Grandma has had this machine in her basement since the late 1980’s. It has been lightly played ever since. No issues since she acquired it as a gift. It continues to play wonderfully! Only issue to note is that red plastic light cover on top is cracked and a little loose. Grandma gets the proceeds! As a courtesy, I will have the machine serviced (normal maintenance) prior to pick up. Please do not hesitate to ask questions.
Model # 1090 ~ 1090-434 ~ Unit 216………..Measures approximately 57″ tall with light x 25-1/2″ across with handle x 20″ deep with coin tray. I estimate that the machine weighs over 200 lbs.

*What are Contemporary Slot Machines
Some slot enthusiasts want to know why a slot that was originally made in the 1930s is labeled as a contemporary slot.Over the years slot collectors have made exact replacement parts in order to fix or restore a slot machine. Today a collector has access to replacement parts for the entire machine for some slot machine models.
A contemporary slot machine would consist of 80-100% of replacement parts. The slot would then be fully restored and tested to assure that it works as well as a slot that came off the factory line.
A contemporary slot generally costs $1000 -$2000 less than a slot that has very few replacement parts.
If your primary goal is to play and enjoy a slot machine with a 1930s or 1940s look, then a contemporary slot makes sense for you.
If your primary goal is to own a slot that was made in the 1930s, and has very few replacement parts, then spending the extra $1000-2000 makes sense for you and we would advise against buying a contemporary slot.
Contemporary slot machines are generally more readily available than other slot machines. It is extremely hard to determine whether a slot machine is a contemporary model or not.
Most dealers, especially on Ebay or at an auction, will not tell you. If you see a restored 1930s or 1940s style slot machine priced under $3000, it is probably a contemporary machine.
